Ways to get alerts for new ss.lv listings

You find the flat, the car or the coin lot you wanted, you call, and you hear that it went yesterday. On ss.lv that is the normal ending: the ads worth having are gone in hours, and whoever called first got them. Searching harder does not fix it; being told the moment something appears does. Here is an honest look at every way to arrange that in Latvia, and where a simple tool is already enough.

Start with what ss.lv gives you free

Two things are built into the site and most people never notice them. The first is RSS: every category page and every filtered search has a feed. Scroll to the bottom of a listing page and the RSS link sits in the footer. It is the same address with /rss/ on the end, so a search for Audi A4s for sale becomes https://www.ss.lv/lv/transport/cars/audi/a4/sell/rss/. The feed is live, and each item carries model, year, engine, mileage and price. The second is Memo, ss.lv's own saved-ads list.

What ss.lv does not do is interrupt you. There is no "email me when a matching ad appears" button. RSS hands you the data; something else has to watch it and tap you on the shoulder.

Refreshing by hand

The honest baseline, and for some searches the right answer: if you want a garage in one district and three ads a month appear, opening ss.lv with your coffee is fine. It fails on sleep and on stamina. Ads land through the whole day, so the gap between an ad appearing and your next refresh is where the deal goes, and a search you check religiously in week one gets checked on alternate days in week three.

Price drops are worse: ss.lv shows the current price and nothing else, so a cut is invisible unless you wrote the old number down. If you track reductions by hand, keep a sheet with three columns — link, price, date. Our price-drop guide covers what a drop tells you about the seller.

RSS readers and page monitors

The first step up costs nothing: point a feed reader at the address above and let it push a phone notification when a new item lands. Free tiers are normal, and it works for any search you can express as an ss.lv URL.

Know the limits first. A feed reports new items, not changed ones, so a price cut on an ad you already saw passes silently. Your filtering is only as good as what fits in the URL. And a reposted ad arrives as brand new, so a stale listing republished again and again keeps waking you up.

General page monitors — the extensions and services that watch any web page and report changes — are the other generic option. They need setting up per search, and they watch the page rather than the market.

Services built for ss.lv

Several Latvian services do nothing but watch ss.lv. What each publishes about itself:

eses.lv calls itself an "SS.lv sludinājumu radars" and delivers by email. You either paste the link of one ad to follow it, or save a search filter; for a followed ad it says it will report a price change or an update. Filters are category and subcategory, price, region and one or more cities, and messages come immediately, daily or weekly. Its category list covers all of ss.lv, agriculture and jobs included. The free plan allows one alert; paid plans allow more, no price named at the time of writing.

adify.lv (SIA Adify) also delivers by email, and is not ss.lv-only: for property it merges ss.com, city24.lv, pp.lv and cityreal.lv, for cars ss.com and pp.lv, for jobs ss.com, pp.lv and cvonline.lv. Three filters are free. The car filter covers mark and model, year, mileage, engine type and volume, gearbox, body type and equipment; the property filter adds a map location and keyword search inside the ad text, useful for a phrase like "īpašnieks pārdod". It also has a lookup where you paste an ad link and see how long it has been up and how its price moved — only for renewed ads, as far as we could tell, not for one reposted from scratch.

SS Ziņotājs (sszinotajs.lv) is the long-standing name here, an ss.lv notifier that also shipped as an Android app in free and PRO versions. When this guide was written its site returned a server error and the Play Store pages we could find did not open. SSpots.lv, aimed at flat hunters and installable to a phone home screen, did not resolve either. Check both before relying on them.

Telegram bots

Telegram is where most of this has moved: the alert arrives in an app you already have open, with no extra account and nothing to install.

Two bots come up by name. @ss_lv_notifications_bot presents itself as "SS.LV Jaunākie sludinājumi"; @SsComBot simply as "Ss". At the time of writing neither published a description on its Telegram page, so the only way to learn what they filter on and what they cost is to open them and try.

mekletava.app is the alternative that publishes the most about itself: an iOS and Android app with the @mekletava_bot Telegram bot still available, drawing from ss.com and city24.lv across property, cars, motorcycles and pets. Its own site says it is free in most cases and lists what Premium adds: unlimited filter settings, ten filters per category instead of one, priority delivery, ad details inside the push notification, and price-change history. No price is named.

adbuzz is our own service, and to be clear: it is independent, not affiliated with or endorsed by ss.lv. It is a Telegram bot with a Mini App for settings, and today it ships this:

• New matching ads reach you within minutes of appearing, oldest first, so a busy morning does not bury the ad that came up first.
• Price drops are confirmed against adbuzz's own record of each listing, so a real cut is reported to the cent, with the new price, the previous price and the size of the drop in the message. Reposts and re-dated bumps do not set it off.
• The complete filter set for each section, not a price box: cars get 23 fields across 54 marks, models and whole series, including nine equipment groups with close to a hundred options — see car alerts.
• Deal type is worked out per ad, so a rental alert never fills with sales, and other people's "wanted" posts are excluded.
• Antiques and collecting ads arrive with a 0–100 score from a valuation engine, an estimated value range and a one-line reason, filterable as a minimum score. Treat it as a screening opinion rather than an appraisal: it says what is worth a closer look, not what a thing is worth.
• Free forever is one active alert in each section, with every filter and the full speed. A Pro plan with 20 alerts, browsable price history, repost detection and days on market is coming, but is not available yet.

So which one

Match the tool to the search, not to the feature list. For one narrow search you check anyway, ss.lv's own RSS in a feed reader is enough. For several searches across portals in one inbox, adify.lv's three free filters or eses.lv's per-listing follow will do. If the search is competitive and the details decide it — a specific engine and gearbox, a rental rather than a sale, a price that has just moved — then filter depth and message speed are what put you first in the queue rather than fourth, which is the case for a purpose-built alert like adbuzz. Whichever you pick, set it up once and stop refreshing.
